Description
You are bidding on a large, very rare original antique engraving from an 1870s French illustrated journal. It depicts a hunt about to start with BEAUTIFUL greyhound dogs in Algeria. The hunter is mounted on a lovely horse. The dogs can't wait to let loose by their handlers. One of the nicest large greyhound engravings I have in my collection. The artist clearly understood the greyhound breed.
Also included with the print is a second page from the same journal with an 24-inch article. It is in French, but free computer translation programs make it easy to translate.
The caption reads: Deux Chasses avec des Levriers, en France et eu Algerie
which roughly translates to:
Two hunts with Greyhounds, in France and in Algeria
It is very large (folio size), measuring approximately 10.5 x 14.5 inches (26.5 x 36.5 cm). The picture fills most of the page, with a French caption below.
The page is in excellent condition for its age.
There is text/photos on the back of the print.
See scan for an accurate view of the condition.
This is GENUINE antique/vintage item. It is not a modern reproduction.
